Mauritanian delegation seeks aquaculture partnerships in Iran Gilan Province

Gilan - A Mauritanian economic delegation has visited Gilan province to assess its expertise in warm-water aquaculture, signaling a potential partnership between the two nations.

The visit occurred during the Iran-Africa Summit, with the Mauritanian representatives keen to learn from Gilan's advancements in the field.

The Director-General of Gilan Fisheries said that the delegation's primary objective was to explore how Gilan's technical capabilities could support the development of warm-water fish farming in Mauritania.

According to the report, discussions also centered on the mutual benefits of collaboration in aquaculture feed production, with the Mauritanian side emphasizing the value of their fish powder resources.

Furthermore, the potential for Iranian fish feed companies to leverage Turkey's established fisheries investments in Africa, especially Mauritania, and Turkey's EU trade relations for sourcing feed inputs was highlighted.

The delegation's itinerary included visits to a high-density carp farm, a fish sales terminal, and a fish feed factory in Rasht, providing them with insights into Gilan's aquaculture infrastructure and production methods.
