Iraq seeks enhanced cooperation with Iran in livestock,
poultry sectors
An official with Iraq’s Ministry of Agriculture expressed
his country’s readiness to develop its cooperation with Iran in the sectors of
livestock, poultry, and aquaculture.
“We are here to closely monitor [the
situation] and get acquainted with Iran’s breed of Holstein cow. We want to
boost our cooperation with Iran and gain experience in various fields including
livestock, sheep breeding, poultry, and aquaculture,” Waleed Mohamed Razooqi
said on the sidelines of the “Iran Holstein Show” underway in the central
province of Isfahan.
He added, “Iraq wants to use the experience of Iranian
breeders to develop its livestock industry so that it can increase its dairy
and milk output.”
According to the public relations office of Iran’s
Agriculture Ministry, the third edition of the Iran Holstein Show opened in
Isfahan on October 30 and will go on until November 2.
It is being held concurrent with the 21st International
Specialized Exhibition of Livestock, Poultry, Aquatic, Veterinary and Dairy
Products.
Holstein cows originated in the Netherlands approximately
2,000 years ago.
Holstein cows are the most recognized breed of dairy cattle
with distinctive black-and-white or red-and-white markings.
