Tehran - Iran’s agricultural production has risen from 28 million tons in 1979 to 139 million tons in 2025, a 435% increase despite growing water shortages, Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri said.

Speaking during Agriculture Week, the minister said the growth reflects significant gains in productivity, with average crop yields increasing from 2.7 tons per hectare before the 1979 Revolution to 6.8 tons per hectare today.

He highlighted major increases in key products, noting that wheat production has grown from about 4 million tons to more than 16 million tons in some years, while raw milk production has reached 13 million tons and poultry meat output has risen to nearly 3 million tons.

Nouri also said Iran maintained stable supplies of essential goods and food security during the recent conflict, with no disruptions reported in the agricultural sector.
