Tianjin – The head of the president of Iran’s Plant Protection Organization visited China’s largest container port in Tianjin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

 

The visit by Dr. Marayam Jalili-Moqaddam aimed to enhance bilateral cooperation and gain firsthand insight into China’s advanced plant quarantine systems and phytosanitary protocols.

 

According to the organization’s public relations office, the tour focused on understanding the port’s procedures for plant health inspections, quarantine enforcement, and the operational capacity of its on-site laboratories.

 

Chinese officials presented detailed briefings on the port’s state-of-the-art electronic monitoring systems, document verification processes for imports and exports, and rapid pest detection and response mechanisms.

 

Jalili-Moqaddam also toured key laboratory facilities involved in the identification and control of harmful organisms and engaged in in-depth discussions with Chinese specialists on best practices, technological innovations, and strategies for improving environmental safety and plant health standards.

 

Commending China’s use of modern technologies and its achievements in quarantine management, she underscored the importance of international collaboration and experience-sharing among SCO member states. She expressed hope that such exchanges would support the modernization of Iran’s quarantine infrastructure and help raise national phytosanitary standards.
