Iran trade balance in seafood exports positive
The value of Bushehr province’s fishery export in the past
Iranian calendar year (1401) stood at $605 million, a provincial official
announced.
Mehdi Alamir, the director-general of the province’s Fishery
Department, addressing the opening ceremony of the second national specialized
exhibition of Iranian fisheries industries at the Bushehr International
Exhibition, said, “This province is one of the leading provinces in the field
of fishing and aquaculture.”
He added that 63,000 tons of various seafood were caught and
supplied to domestic and foreign markets in Bushehr province this year, noting
that the country’s trade balance in seafood exports is positive by half a
million dollars.
Alamir said that a total of 105,000 tons of various seafood
were produced and caught in Bushehr province. He said that Bushehr province has
always been at the forefront of the cycle of pre-production, production, and
seafood products.
The director-general of the province’s Fishery Department
also said that $234 million worth of seafood exports have been registered so
far this year, which has increased by 16% in terms of weight and value compared
to last year.
He further put the production of farmed shrimp in Bushehr
province at 21,000 tons this year, which has decreased by 15,000 tons compared
to last year due to disease and other causes.
