Iran to launch saffron exchange warehouses in North Khorasan by 2026 harvest
North Khorasan - Iran will launch two certified saffron warehouses in North Khorasan Province before the 2026 harvest season, creating a combined storage capacity of four metric tons, a report said.
The report, quoting provincial officials, said each warehouse would be able to store two tons of saffron under standardized conditions and facilitate trading through the Iran Commodity Exchange (IME). The facilities will provide laboratory testing, quality control, and expert supervision to ensure certified storage and marketing of the crop.
“After evaluation and approval, the saffron will be offered through the exchange, enabling growers to sell their product in a transparent market and capture its full market value.”
Officials said the project will strengthen saffron marketing, increase value addition, improve market organization, and support the development of North Khorasan’s saffron value chain while enhancing farmers’ incomes.
