Iran targets 150,000 tons of olive production

Tehran – Iran expects to harvest 150,000 tons of olives this year, with 120,000 tons already collected, according to Javad Mirarab Razi, the national olive project manager.

“The ongoing harvest in Gilan province is projected to contribute 40,000 tons,” Mirarab Razi said.

He added, “With 60,000 of Iran's 65,000 hectares of olive orchards currently productive, the country plans to process 11,000 tons of olives into oil and 70,000 tons into canned products.”

The official said that the Ministry of Agriculture is prioritizing the development of modern orchards with high-yield, oil-producing varieties, aiming to increase overall production.

“A nationwide orchard improvement program is underway, focusing on pruning, scientific nutrition, and the complete renovation of over 30,000 hectares.”
