Iran takes measure to protect endangered species
Tehran – Public awareness of wildlife damage insurance is crucial for protecting both endangered species and rural livelihoods, according to the head of Iran's Environmental Protection Organization.
Sheena Ansari made the remarks during the signing of a key trilateral agreement between the Deputy Directorate of Natural Environment and Biodiversity, the National Environment Fund, and the Agricultural Insurance Fund, as reported by IRNA.
The agreement aims to reduce conflicts between wildlife and human communities by providing compensation to farmers and livestock owners affected by wildlife damage, thus ensuring continued support for endangered species, Ansari explained.
"Nationwide information campaigns and targeted education are essential tools for minimizing human-wildlife conflicts," she said.
The official welcomed the agreement's compensation mechanism, expressing hope that it would lead to expanded support for Iran's diverse wildlife populations.
