Iran sets sight on African nations for overseas farming projects

Iran sets sight on African nations for overseas farming
projects

In line with President Ebrahim Raisi's focus on agricultural
diplomacy with Africa, Iran's Ministry of Agriculture is considering Tanzania
as its first location for extraterritorial cultivation, a move to expand
agricultural cooperation beyond Iranian borders.

To further this goal, a recent meeting between Iranian and
Tanzanian officials at the Ministry of Agriculture laid the groundwork for
future negotiations between senior officials of both countries. This meeting
aimed to establish a platform for productive discussions on potential
agricultural projects, including the initial cultivation project in Tanzania.

This focus on Tanzania aligns with Iran's recent efforts to
strengthen economic ties with African nations, as demonstrated by the First
Specialized Exhibition of Export Potentials held in Tanzania last November.
This trade expo, organized by the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, served
as a key platform for Iranian businesses to connect with potential partners in
East Africa, particularly Tanzania.

Iran's agricultural diplomacy shift towards Africa, with
Tanzania as a potential launchpad, reflects a strategic move to diversify its
agricultural partnerships and secure new markets.

Continued efforts to strengthen economic ties through trade
exhibitions and targeted initiatives like the Tanzania cultivation project
could pave the way for a mutually beneficial and flourishing agricultural
partnership between Iran and African nations.
