Iran self-sufficient in production of 5 staples, agriculture
minister says 

Iran’s Minister of Agriculture says the country has become
self-sufficient in the production of five staple crops.  

“At present, we are self-sufficient
in the production of wheat, rice, barley, cotton, and sugar, which are all
strategic and important staple foods,” Mohammad-Ali Nikbakht said last
week. 

He added, “All potentials should be tapped to increase the
country's self-sufficiency rate in the production of other agricultural
products as well”. 

We need to pave the way for more development and increase
our export share in both regional and global markets, the minister further
noted.
