Tehran - Iran is seeking to capitalize on its strategic geographic location, diverse climate, and competitive agricultural sector to become a key regional food trade hub, the Ministry of Agriculture said.

 

The ministry stressed that food hub status depends not on complete self-sufficiency, but on strong logistics, cold-chain infrastructure, food processing, and efficient trade networks linking regional and global supply chains.

 

Despite challenges posed by drought, climate change, water scarcity, and economic sanctions, officials said Iran has safeguarded food security by diversifying import sources and maintaining strategic reserves.

 

The ministry added that continued investment in ports, multimodal transport corridors, and regional cooperation will further strengthen the country's role in regional food supply and agricultural trade.
