“Our private sector is ready to import fishmeal from Mauritania while exporting high-value tuna and other seafood products,” he said.
Ambassador Muhammad al-Razi welcomed Iran’s proposals, saying that Mauritania prioritizes economic ties with Tehran.
“The presence of Iran’s fishing fleet in Mauritanian waters is significant, and we fully support private-sector involvement from Iran,” he said.
Both sides agreed to accelerate cooperation in value-added seafood processing, fishing vessel manufacturing and technology transfer and training programs
A Mauritanian investor delegation will soon tour Iran’s fisheries facilities in Bandar Abbas to assess further collaboration opportunities.
The head of the Provincial Agriculture Organization also drew attention to the decline in imports, reporting that the volume of agricultural product imports through the province's plant quarantine centers reached 4,634 tons during this period.
“This reflects a notable 70% reduction compared to Farvardin of the previous year,” Shafiee said.
