Iran second largest glass greenhouse inaugurated in
Zanjan
Iran’s second largest glass greenhouse was inaugurated in
the north-western province of Zanjan in the presence of the President and the
Minister of Agriculture.
According to the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, the
glass greenhouse project in Hidaj district of Zanjan province was inaugurated
by President Ebrahim Raisi and Agriculture Minister Mohammad-Ali Nikbakht
during the government's visit to the province.
The greenhouse project is the second largest of its kind in
the northwestern region of Iran.
It is a modern glass structure with a hydroponic cultivation
system. Thirty hectares out of a total of 60 hectares have been put into
operation. The aim is to produce agricultural products in greenhouses using
hydroponics (soilless cultivation).
In this project, 15,000 tons of various peppers, cherry
tomatoes and strawberries are produced annually. This project was completed in
2023 with a budget of 20,000 billion Iranian rials, of which 16,000 billion
Iranian rials came from own contributions and 4,000 billion Iranian rials from
bank loans.
The production of this plant is completely export-oriented.
All of its products will be exported to Russia.
