Iran says ready to share its agri expertise with Uzbekistan

Tashkent – In a move to bolster agricultural cooperation, Iran has offered to share its advanced agricultural technologies and expertise with Uzbekistan.

Iranian Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri, during a recent meeting with Uzbek officials, emphasized the potential for fruitful collaboration in various areas, including potato production, processing, seed exports, and agricultural technology transfer.

"The visionary leadership of the Uzbek President has opened doors to significant opportunities for cooperation between our two nations," Nouri said.

The minister highlighted the potential for both direct product exports and barter trade, particularly in commodities such as potatoes and legumes. “With a century of experience in agricultural research, Iran is well-positioned to assist Uzbekistan in modernizing its agricultural sector.”

Uzbekistan, a major importer of potatoes, has expressed keen interest in sourcing from Iran. Annual imports from Iran range from 600,000 to 700,000 tons.

Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Agriculture and head of the Quarantine and Plant Protection Organization, reiterated the country's commitment to strengthening trade ties with Iran.

This strategic partnership between Iran and Uzbekistan is poised to enhance food security, economic growth, and sustainable agriculture in both nations.
