Tehran - The Ministry of Agriculture has unveiled a comprehensive empowerment plan aimed at transforming the economic participation of rural and nomadic women.

 

The initiative sets major goals, including the rollout of 3,000 specialized training courses and direct support for one million women through skill-building programs.

 

Tahereh Ghayoomi, Advisor to the Minister on Women’s Affairs, said the program is designed to address longstanding structural, cultural, and legal barriers that have limited women’s participation in the rural economy.

 

“Field research has identified the most pressing challenges: gaps in the production-to-market chain, the role of middlemen, restricted market access, inadequate packaging and logistics infrastructure, limited production resources, financial constraints, low literacy levels, and weak decision-making representation.”

 

“The initiative is based on in-depth field studies and aims to turn the informal economic role of rural women into sustainable and profitable enterprises,” Ghayoumi stressed.

 

The success of the plan will be tracked using indicators such as job creation, reduced rural migration, increased exports of local products, strengthened cooperatives, and higher income levels through the national sales platform, she added.
