Tehran – Iran has established 65 model farms for six strategic crops nationwide as part of efforts to boost productivity, improve crop quality, and promote climate-resilient agriculture, Deputy Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Golmohammadi announced.

Speaking at the National Rice Farm Day in Rasht, where two new rice varieties—Ti Ti and Kavir—were unveiled, Golmohammadi said the farms will accelerate the transfer of modern agricultural technologies and best practices to producers, supporting the country's long-term food security goals.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration among universities, research institutions, and the private sector, noting that Iran's food security strategy is built on four pillars: food availability, access, safety, and sustainable production.

Golmohammadi also highlighted Gilan Province's contribution to the sector, saying it generates around 10% of Iran's agricultural output value through products including rice, kiwi, olives, and fisheries.

He added that the ministry is expanding the use of improved crop varieties, water-efficient farming methods, technological innovation, and farmland consolidation to enhance productivity and strengthen the rice value chain.
