Tehran – Iran has inaugurated a new fish processing and packaging facility with an annual capacity of 1,000 metric tons in Aligudarz, western Lorestan Province, as part of efforts to strengthen the country's aquaculture value chain and expand export opportunities.

Kiarash Beyranvand, Director General of Lorestan Fisheries, said Aligudarz—one of Iran's leading rainbow trout-producing regions—has taken a major step toward increasing value-added production with the launch of the advanced processing plant.

Located in the Aligudarz Industrial Park, the facility is designed to process up to 1,000 tons of aquatic products annually, helping reduce the sale of raw fish while improving productivity and profitability across the province's fisheries sector.

The plant produces frozen fish fillets and frozen gutted fish using modern processing equipment and vacuum-packaging technology, which helps preserve freshness, maintain product quality, and extend shelf life.

Beyranvand said the facility will serve both domestic and international markets, with neighboring Azerbaijan identified as a key export destination. The company is currently completing procedures to obtain an IR export code, paving the way for international shipments.
