Iran holds top place globally in date varieties

Tehran - The head of Iran's National Date Association highlighted the country's date production capabilities, saying that Iran holds first place globally in varieties of date types.
Mohsen Rashid Farrokhi, president of the association, told Borna Economic News that date prices, like other commodities, have been affected by inflation and market dynamics.
He, however, said that date quality has remained consistent. "No significant drop in quality has been observed. In fact, certain varieties, such as Kabkab from Bushehr and Mazafati, have maintained or even improved in taste and appeal."
Farrokhi emphasized Iran’s unique position in production and diversity and said, "While we rank second in total date production, no country offers the same high-quality date varieties to suit all consumer preferences."
Iran harvested approximately 1.35 million tons of dates in the last agricultural year, meeting annual production targets without shortages.
