Iran exports over 21,000 tons of pomegranates to 21
countries
Over 21,000 tons of pomegranates valued at over $8 million
were exported from Iran to 21 countries in 2022, a report said.
According to the report, Iran exported 21,285 tons of fresh
pomegranates, valued at $8,553,516, to 21 countries, registering a 20 and 12
percent hike in weight and value respectively compared to a year earlier.
Pakistan imported 8,066 tons of fresh Iranian pomegranates,
valued at over $3 million, in 2022, becoming Iran’s first export target market,
followed by Iraq, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, South Korea, Russia,
Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Belarus respectively, Tasnim reported.
In the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year
(March 21 to September 22, 2023), 347 tons of fresh pomegranates, valued at
$154,911, were exported from Iran to neighboring Iraq, Pakistan, Kuwait,
Turkmenistan, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
