Gilan – The northern Iranian Gilan Province has achieved a significant milestone, exporting 46,112 tons of kiwi to 25 countries since the start of the export season in October, according to the head of the Gilan Province Agricultural Organization. 

 

"These exports are generating substantial foreign revenue and providing critical support to our local farmers," stated Mohammadi, head of the organization. 

 

He emphasized the vital role kiwi exports play in strengthening Gilan's sustainable, "green" agricultural economy, adding that the Province's ability to ship 36,000 tons of kiwi directly from its borders underscores the strength of its agricultural infrastructure and export capabilities. 

 

“This achievement comes amidst a record harvest of 174,000 tons, cultivated across 7,500 hectares of orchards, which support the livelihoods of 83,500 people.”

 

Key markets include Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and India, Mohammadi said.
