Iran exports 107,000 tons of eggs in 9 months
Iran exported 107,000 tons of eggs valued at $110 million to
the target countries in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar
year (March 21-December 21), the head of Mihan Poultry Union said.
According to Mohammad Moradi, Iranian eggs have been
exported to various countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Qatar,
Oman and the UAE, IRNA reported.
“Iran has the capacity to produce over 1.6 million tons of
eggs annually,” he said.
According to the official, Iran currently holds the ninth
place in the world in terms of egg production.
According to statistics, the per capita consumption of eggs
in Iran is over 14 kg. That’s while the average rate of consumption in the
world is 11-12 kilograms and 18 kilograms in developed countries.
The products were exported to Iraq, Afghanistan,
Turkmenistan as well as the Persian Gulf littoral states including Oman, Qatar
and the United Arab Emirates, Moradi added.
