Iran date exports surge to 123m dollars in 7 months

Tehran – Iran's date industry continues its upward trajectory, with the country exporting a remarkable $123 million worth of dates in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 20 - October 21).
This significant achievement solidifies Iran's position as a global powerhouse in date production.
Renowned for its centuries-old date cultivation heritage, Iran's warm and arid climate, particularly in its southern regions, provides ideal conditions for date palm growth. In 2021, the country ranked third worldwide in date production, harvesting an impressive 1.28 million tons of this nutritious fruit.
While Iran boasts an astonishing diversity of over 400 date varieties, only a select few have commercial significance. The country's varied climate enables the cultivation of diverse date types, with Kerman province emerging as a major hub for three specific varieties. Other key date-producing regions include Hormozgan, Khuzestan, Bushehr, Sistan-Baluchestan, and Fars.
