Iran boosts livestock health with free vaccination campaign

Tehran – Iran's Veterinary Organization has initiated a comprehensive vaccination campaign to safeguard its livestock population.
The major program aims to inoculate 24.2 million animals, primarily belonging to rural and nomadic communities, against foot-and-mouth disease.
In the initial phase of the campaign, authorities have administered 23 million doses of the vaccine to small livestock, such as sheep, and 1.2 million doses to large livestock, exceeding 70% and 83% of their respective targets.
The Veterinary Organization is currently focusing on follow-up vaccinations in designated provinces, intending to achieve a 90% vaccination rate among rural and nomadic livestock by the end of November, according to the official website of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The campaign is a collaborative effort involving provincial governments, public sector agencies, and private entities. Notably, all vaccines used in the program are domestically produced.
Iran's Veterinary Organization has expressed its commitment to international cooperation in the field of veterinary medicine. The organization is prioritizing partnerships with regional blocs like BRICS to enhance animal health and disease control efforts.
