Iran aquatic exports reach record levels

Tehran - Iran’s exports of aquatic products surged to record levels in the first four months of the year, according to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

 

Total exports reached over 133,000 tons, valued at $173 million, marking a 42% increase in volume and a 13% rise in value compared to the same period last year, the report by IRICA said.

 

According to the report, ornamental fish exports soared 80% in volume and 24% in value, totaling 263 tons worth $251,000. Sea fish exports grew 16% by weight, while caviar shipments rose 1.34%.

 

Exports of aquafeed also saw remarkable growth, climbing 117% in volume and 110% in value to reach 73,000 tons, valued at $60 million.

 

Conversely, imports of fishery products fell sharply, declining 63% in volume and 59% in value to 6,000 tons, valued at $20 million. Tuna imports also dropped significantly, reaching 5,000 tons worth $11 million.
