Organization launches new seafood market in Gilan province

The deputy director of
planning and resource management at Iran’s Fisheries Organization announced the
launch of a new seafood market in Gilan Province.

In an interview with the
Mehr News Agency, Shahriar Rostami said that Gilan has good potential for
seafood production. He noted that the coastal city of Kiashahr, with its access
to the Caspian Sea, provides a good opportunity for the development of
fisheries and aquaculture.

Rostami also announced
the creation of a support site for offshore cages in Kiashahr. He said that the
creation of fish farms in the Caspian Sea in Kiashahr could lead to economic
prosperity.

He also announced the
revival of a fishing pier in Kiashahr. He said that the pier is being revived
to reduce the burden on vessels in the Bandar Anzali and Astane Ashrafieh
region.

Rostami said that the
development of fishery tourism in Gilan is a major priority for the fisheries
organization. He said that tourism activities coupled with fisheries and
aquaculture can lead to economic growth.

The official also
announced the launch of a new seafood market in Gilan. He said that the
creation of a modern, mechanized, and hygienic market for the sale of seafood
in Gilan is very important.

Rostami called on the
private sector to invest in the fisheries sector. He said that the ground is
ripe for private sector investment in fisheries and aquaculture development.

He also mentioned the
unique potential of the coastal city of Bandar Anzali in the fisheries sector.
He said that the dredging of piers in Bandar Anzali is being pursued seriously.

The new seafood market in
Gilan is expected to be completed and opened to the public in the coming
months. The market will be located in the city of Rasht, the capital of Gilan
Province. The market is expected to provide a convenient and affordable place
for consumers to purchase fresh seafood.

The launch of the new
seafood market is part of the Iranian government’s efforts to promote the
fisheries sector and boost economic growth.
