Iran, UNDP sign document to promote sustainable development
Tehran - Iran’s Natural Resources and Watershed Management Organization and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have inked an agreement aimed at advancing renewable energy in arid regions, empower local communities, restore rangelands, and promote sustainable management of natural resources, according to the Head of Iran’s Natural Resources and Watershed Management Organization.
Following the signing ceremony, Reza Aflatooni said that public engagement and international cooperation are essential for the preservation and development of natural resources.
He noted that the expansion of solar energy offers local communities new livelihood opportunities while generating clean energy.
“With over 30 million hectares of desert land, Iran depends on sustainable management strategies and global partnerships,” Aflatooni added.
