Iran, Kyrgyzstan prioritize agricultural ties, aim for stronger economic partnership
Tehran - Top officials from Iran and Kyrgyzstan concluded the 14th session of their Joint Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation in Tehran, with a strong emphasis placed on bolstering agricultural collaboration and elevating overall economic ties.
During the session, Iran's Minister of Agriculture, Gholamreza Nouri, underscored the importance of agricultural cooperation as a primary objective for both nations.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, that the current level of economic engagement falls short of the robust political relationship between the two countries and necessitates significant enhancement.
The meeting, which coincided with the 7th Iran Export Exhibition (EXPO 2025), was highlighted by Minister Nouri as a potential "turning point" in bilateral relations, offering a valuable platform for interaction among Iranian and Kyrgyz business leaders, according to the Iranian government's information portal.
Nouri further acknowledged the dedication of experts and deputies from both sides in finalizing the meeting's agreements, expressing optimism that the session would build upon past successes to create a firm foundation for future bilateral cooperation.
Drawing attention to the Iranian President's meetings with Kyrgyz counterparts the previous year, the Iranian minister reiterated that the existing level of economic cooperation does not match the strength of their political connections and requires improvement.
Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Economy and Commerce, Sydykov Bakyt Tolomushovich, for his part, echoed this positive sentiment, expressing confidence in the beneficial impact of the newly reached agreements.
He affirmed that the signed documents would contribute to the deepening and strengthening of bilateral relations and the implementation of joint projects in the agriculture and mining sectors.
Minister Sydykov stressed the urgency of fostering closer communication between business operators from both countries, proposing follow-up meetings for a thorough examination of cooperative opportunities.
He concluded that the outcomes of the current session would pave the way for "new horizons" in the development of joint cooperation.
