Increase in sugar production and decrease in its import in

The Director General of Distribution and Sales Coordination
of Iran State Trading Company said: During the first eight months of this year,
about 758,000 tons of raw sugar were imported into the country, which has
decreased by 12% compared to the same period last year due to the increase in
domestic production. Hojjat Baratali also added that: During 8 months of this
year, 758 thousand tons of raw sugar have been imported into the country, of
which the share of the private sector was 70 thousand tons.



He also mentioned that: Sugar imports in the first eight
months of this year compared to the same period last year decreased by 12% due
to increased domestic production (sugar beet). He then added: As of November
11th 2021, 1,178,000 tons of sugarcane has been delivered to sugar factories,
which is the same as that of last year, but compared to 2019, it has grown by
60%.



The Director General of Distribution and Sales Coordination
of Iran State Trading Company also stated that: From this amount of sugarcane
delivered to factories, more than 700,000 tons of sugar will be extracted,
which will fulfill the production forecasts in this sector.
