Acting Minister of Agriculture Emphasized:

Implementation of Logging Ban Initiative in Hyrcanian Forests



According to FRWO’s website, Eng. Abbas Keshavarz, Acting Minister of
Agriculture Jahad who attended the 34th ceremony on technological progress in
agriculture which was held with the attendance of President Rouhani , high
ranking officials and entrepreneurs in agriculture sector in Iran
International Conference Center on Tuesday, emphasized the importance of
Hyrcanian forests as the world invaluable heritage and implementation of
logging ban initiative and added that conservation of forests must be taken seriously
in the ban period.

Acting Minister of Agriculture Jahad who attended the 34th ceremony on

importance of Hyrcanian forests as the world invaluable heritage and
implementation of  logging ban initiative and added that conservation
of forests must be taken seriously in the ban period.

He also emphasized the participatory mechanisms in forest
and rangeland management with the wide involvement of local communities.

Acting Minister of Agriculture also elaborated the
importance of soil conservation and said “soil has been neglected in
recent years and reduced to a secondary issue as a result its fertility and
quality has declined due to erosion. Fortunately, application of new
technologies in agriculture and soil sciences is improving soil conditions”.

Acting Minister of Agriculture Jahad reiterated we
stand firmly against agricultural land conversion for housing and urban
development.
