Mahmoud Bahmani, the head of the country's Fisheries Science
Research Institute mentioned that: The Artemia Research Center of the country
with high international capacities in West Asia is located in Urmia, and so far
valuable activities in the field of Artemia technical knowledge have been
carried out by this center.

He also added that: Currently, this center is carrying out
valuable research activities in the field of evaluation of Artemia reserves,
cysts and biomass, and this center acts as a reference of Artemia reserves
assessment, which in two provinces of Markazi and Isfahan, research activities
on the use of unconventional waters for cultivation and Artemia cyst production
is ongoing

.He added that raising fish in cages
is another priority project by the institute, and added: Due to climate change,
especially in the last decade and the sharp decline in rainfall and shortage of
fresh water, one of the activities on the agenda to maintain and even increase
aquaculture production in Iran is fish farming in cages, as the first priority
of the Iranian organization of fisheries, to provide healthy food.
