Hamedan – Iran's western province of Hamedan remains the country's leading garlic producer, harvesting more than 60,000 tons of garlic annually and serving as a key supplier to both domestic and export markets.

 

Ali Bayganeh, Director of Crop Production at Hamedan's Agriculture Organization, attributed the province's leadership to its fertile soil, favorable climate, experienced farmers, and the garlic's renowned quality and distinctive aroma.

 

The annual harvest began in June, with another strong yield expected this year due to favorable growing conditions, he added.

 

Bayganeh said efforts are underway to boost productivity, improve cultivation practices, and expand market access.

 

He also announced that a specialized garlic industrial park is now being developed to increase value-added production, create jobs, and strengthen Hamedan's presence in domestic and international markets.
