Tehran - The Hamedan Agricultural and Natural Resources Research and Education Center has introduced five new wheat varieties, according to the head of the Center.

 

The center has managed to develop five new wheat varieties named Fallah and Negin (irrigated), and Nafis, Shayan, and Dehghan (dryland), Mohammad Yazdandoost said.

 

He emphasized that widespread adoption of these varieties, coupled with effective farm management, could increase production efficiency by up to 30%.

 

“Farmers will gain access to these improved seeds through propagation and multiplication efforts.”

 

Beyond core crops, the center is also making strides in medicinal plants, having contributed to the purification and introduction of two new thyme varieties, Rayeheh and Shamim, Yazdandoost said.

 

The Center's robust research program encompasses 125 projects, including 85 national and 35 demand-driven initiatives, covering diverse agricultural fields, he said, adding that 10 collaborative research-extension projects have been conducted with local farmers, with results to be disseminated upon completion.
