exports increase 6 percent in 8 months on year
Iran’s value of fishery exports has risen six percent during
the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year (ends March 29,
2024), compared to the same period last year, according to statistics.
The latest data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran
Customs Administration (IRICA), put the eight-month fishery export at 132,000
tons worth $235 million, which was also 14 percent more than last year’s figure
in terms of weight.
Iran’s fishery trade balance is $195 million this year.
In return, Iran imported $40 million worth of aquatic
animals in the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year, Tasnim
reported.
According to the statistics, 70 percent of Iran’s fisheries
products were exported to Iraq (39,000 tons), China (22,000 tons), the United
Arab Emirates (21,000 tons) and Russia (10,000 tons) respectively.
Enjoying high quality, Iran’s fishery products were sold
easily in the export markets, and also some new export destinations welcomed
these products in the past year.
New markets including China, South Korea, and the Eurasian
Union nations opened up for Iranian fishery products in the previous year.
