Tehran — The Iranian minister of agriculture announced that 85 percent of the nation’s food security is provided by domestic producers and farmers, underscoring the vital role of local agriculture in meeting the country’s dietary needs.

 

"Eighty-five percent of our food security is secured by our dear domestic producers and farmers. Regarding the minor share that depends on imports, thanks to God—and given Iran’s vast capacities and long land borders with 15 to 16 neighboring countries—the country will never face a serious challenge in the realm of food security,” Gholamreza Nouri said.

 

He also pointed to Iran’s geographical and economic advantages, adding, "Iran is a vast country with extensive borders and numerous neighbors. These capabilities serve as a crucial foundation for maintaining sustained national food security."

 

Nouri concluded by affirming that, relying on domestic talent and the tireless efforts of farmers and producers, the country’s food security remains in a stable and reliable condition, by divine grace.
