China major buyer of Iranian shrimp: Official
China is the major buyer of shrimps farmed in Iran, the head
of the fisheries department of the southeastern province of Sistan and
Baluchestan said.
China and Thailand are the main customers of the fish that
are not favorable for the domestic market, Arash Sanaei added.
He noted that Russia has recently shown an interest in
importing Iranian tuna fish, Tasnim reported.
The canned tuna fish made in Iran is being exported to many
countries, such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Pakistan, Iraq,
Lebanon and Syria, he added.
According to Sanaei, Sistan and Baluchestan province
accounts for more than 70 percent of the tuna fish caught in the Iranian
waters.
In July, the director general of Iran Fisheries Organization
said around 37,000 tons of shrimps were exported to 21 countries in the past
Iranian year.
