Camel breeding industry expanding in Khorasan Razavi, official says

Khorasan Razavi– The camel breeding industry in Khorasan Razavi province, in the northeast of Iran, has produced more than 1,000 tons of meat and created jobs for over 1,500 people, a provincial agricultural official announced.

Reza Ashkanifar, Director of Livestock Affairs at the Khorasan Razavi Agriculture Organization, said the province is home to more than 11,000 camels, which yield over 1,000 tons of meat each year.

He added that more than 1,500 individuals are currently employed in the sector.

Citing climate change as a driving factor, Ashkanifar noted that authorities are planning to increase the number of camel breeding units across the province.

Camel milk production in Khorasan Razavi currently stands at 450 tons, and camel breeding units operate in 16 cities throughout the province, he further said.
