Beekeepers in Khorasan Razavi produce 55 tons of spring honey
Khorasan Razavi - Beekeepers in Kuhsorkh County, Khorasan Razavi Province, have harvested over 55 tons of spring honey this year, even as severe drought conditions caused production to fall by about 30 percent.
According to Hojjat Safarnejad, head of the Kuhsorkh Agricultural Organization, the county is home to around 9,100 beehives managed by 110 active beekeepers, based on the 2024 census.
He underscored the need for branding and investment in honey-processing industries to strengthen the product’s presence in regional markets.
“Producers can leverage government support to expand these initiatives and add more value to their products,” he said.
Identifying Kuhsorkh as one of the province’s leading honey-producing regions, Safarnejad emphasized that investment in agriculture-related ventures - particularly beekeeping - can play a critical role in boosting local production and creating jobs.
He added that training workshops on honey production and by-product development, along with the allocation of sugar quotas, have been key measures in improving both the quantity and quality of honey in the region.
