Agricultural research must go to farms, minister says
Iranian Minister of Agriculture of Iran Mohammad Ali
Nikbakht called for the need to bring applied research to farms and
agricultural production units.
“This is the only way to ensure the country's food security,
given the challenges of climate change, limited water resources, and
backwardness in agricultural investment,” Nikbakht said in a recent meeting
with members of the country’s Agricultural Research, Education and Extension
Organization (AREEO).
He stressed the importance of using the capacities of
universities, the Presidential Office of Science and Technology, the Atomic
Energy Organization of Iran, vocational schools, and leading farmers to achieve
this goal.
The minister also called for the use of the capacity of
knowledge-based agricultural companies and active experts in this field.
