Afghanistan says resolved to expand agricultural, technology cooperation with Iran
Tehran - Afghanistan is seeking to broaden cooperation in agriculture and agricultural technologies with Iran, a senior Afghan official says.
Speaking at the 10th International Exhibition of Agricultural Machinery and Equipment, Inputs, and Modern Irrigation Systems, Mawlawi Baz Mohammad Fayzan, Afghanistan’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Natural Resources and Irrigation, said the two countries have strong potential for expanded collaboration in agriculture, horticulture, greenhouse production, and modern irrigation systems.
During his visit to the exhibition in Tehran on Friday, he told reporters that Afghanistan aims to adopt Iranian innovations and technologies, while exporting Afghan agricultural products that are in demand in the Iranian market.
The senior official described Iran as a “good neighbor and brother,” adding that the two sides can implement a wide range of joint projects in agriculture and advanced technologies.
Fayzan noted that Iran’s experience and expertise in agricultural development can be transferred to Afghanistan, while Afghanistan is also ready to share its own production capabilities and know-how.
He added that bilateral trade has grown in recent years, with increased exports and imports of agricultural products.
The Afghan official also highlighted Afghanistan’s strategic position as a transit link between Iran and Central Asia, saying Iranian agricultural products could be transported to Central Asian markets through Afghanistan.
