‘Wheat a divine gift to humanity’

‘Wheat a divine gift to humanity’

Fatemeh Zare’an, a senior adviser to the Iranian Minister of Agriculture and the head of the Public Relations and Information Center of the Ministry of Agriculture- in a message on the occasion of the National Day of Wheat and Bread- described wheat as a “a natural wonder and a divine gift to humanity”.

What follows is the full text of her message:

In the name of the Lord of Bread and the Lord of Life

Wheat is a natural wonder and a divine gift to humanity. Since the beginning of creation, just as humans have quenched their thirst with water, they have preserved their bodies from restlessness, weakness, and hunger with bread, so that water and bread together have become the cornerstone of the continuation of human life on Earth.

In Iranian and Islamic culture, bread has a special importance and sanctity, to the extent that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) prayed for the bread of his nation and said: "O God, bless our bread and do not separate us from it."

The designation of a day called "Wheat and Bread" in the official calendar of the country, in addition to strengthening public culture for more careful attention to the importance of this divine blessing, has become a source of encouragement for farmers in this field.

March 21st, National "Wheat and Bread Day", is a reminder of the efforts of wheat farmers in producing the strategic product of wheat and the movement of Iranian agriculture to achieve self-sufficiency in production and food independence; I congratulate this national day to all farmers and defenders of the food security border.
