Tangerine harvest begins in Kerman province

Kerman - The tangerine harvest has officially begun across 730 hectares of orchards in southern Kerman province, starting in mid-November.

Of the total area, 702 hectares are in full production and 28 hectares are young orchards, with yields expected to surpass 7,000 tons, according to Sadeq Hosseinzadeh, the Director of Horticulture at the South Kerman Agriculture Organization.

He added that the region’s tangerines stand out for their diverse cultivars, high quality, and exceptional freshness, noting that the entire harvest is supplied to domestic markets.

Hosseinzadeh noted that southern Kerman is the country’s third-largest citrus producer, highlighting its economic significance and strong agricultural capacity.

According to Hosseinzadeh, the counties of Jiroft, Anbarabad, Rudbar-e Jonub, Kahnouj, Qaleh-Ganj, Manujan, Faryab, and Jazmourian benefit from suitable climate conditions and water resources, making them among Iran’s most favorable zones for citrus cultivation.
