Birjand — South Khorasan is focusing on the expansion of greenhouse cultivation and food processing industries as part of its strategy to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability, provincial agriculture officials said.

 

Mohsen Esfandiyari, head of the South Khorasan Agricultural Organization, said greenhouse farming is essential for increasing output and managing water resources more efficiently amid growing water constraints.

 

He added that the province is supporting investment in modern agricultural projects while promoting food processing and packaging industries to reduce waste, create added value, and strengthen access to domestic and export markets.

 

Esfandiyari emphasized that technology-driven and knowledge-based agriculture will play a key role in enhancing productivity, competitiveness, and long-term growth in the sector.
