Mohammad-Mehdi Boroumandi highlighted the importance of protecting horticultural and strategic crops such as citrus, dates, and saffron.
Noting the regional and global challenges of pest management, he stressed the need for coordinated action with countries like India and Pakistan to effectively control these threats.
The deputy minister also underlined the role of sound policy and strategic management in pest control, calling for a reassessment of national capacities and resources.
He urged the adoption of advanced technologies and the study of international best practices to strengthen pest management efforts.
Boroumandi further stressed that effective inter-agency cooperation - including coordination among the Planning and Budget Organization, Crisis Management Headquarters, and Ministry of Interior - is essential to manage agricultural crises and safeguard the country’s food security.
