Over 162 kg of quality caviar produced in Tehran, exports underway
Tehran — Tehran Province has produced and harvested more than 162 kilograms of high-quality caviar since the beginning of the current year, with a substantial share of the output exported to international markets, a senior agricultural official said.
Jebrail Baradari, head of the Tehran Provincial Agricultural Organization, said the production has met domestic demand while also contributing to Iran’s non-oil exports.
He highlighted Tehran’s growing role in aquaculture development, noting that the province currently operates four active sturgeon farming facilities. "These farms produce both sturgeon meat and caviar from key species, including beluga, Russian sturgeon, and Siberian sturgeon."
Baradari attributed the sustained increase in caviar output to expanded production infrastructure, improved water quality, the use of modern technologies, and continued support for private-sector investment.
He added that expanding farms, boosting production capacity, improving efficiency, and scaling up caviar exports are among the organization’s core strategies to create sustainable jobs and strengthen the agricultural economy of Tehran Province.
