Mashhad - More than 12,900 camels are currently being raised across Iran’s Razavi Khorasan Province, with Bardaskan County accounting for the largest share, officials said.

 

Mr. Rezaee-Nasab, head of the provincial camel unit at the Ministry of Agriculture, said Bardaskan is home to about 3,500 camels, ranking first in the province.

 

He made the remarks during a visit to camel-breeding units in the county, noting that one local farm has been selected as a national model.

 

Mehdi Masroori, head of the Bardaskan Agriculture Office, also said the county has been introduced as a national model for camel breeding due to its suitable climate, low water requirements, and use of modern production methods.

 

He added that around 100 breeders are active in traditional units and that plans are underway to industrialize the sector to expand production and processing.

 

Kianzad, a camel specialist at the ministry, said Bardaskan’s conditions provide strong potential for investment, value-chain development, and growth of camel-based products nationwide.
