Lorestan province registers rise sugar beet harvest
Lorestan – The director of the Agricultural Organization in the western Lorestan Province report a successful and ongoing harvest of spring-planted sugar beet, with more than 400,000 tons already collected and processed.
Namdar Sayyadi said that harvesting commenced on September 15, 2025. The yield from 6,900 hectares of farmland has already been transported to local sugar refineries.
"Compared to last year's cultivated area of 8,201 hectares, we have seen a 4% increase, with current spring beet cultivation covering 8,568 hectares," he added.
The official projected the total harvest will exceed 500,000 tons by the season's conclusion.
“While the provincial average yield stands at 60 tons per hectare, several farmers employing advanced agronomic and nutritional techniques have achieved record-breaking yields of up to 158 tons per hectare.”
We are actively encouraging farmers to adopt modern methods to enhance productivity and conserve vital water resources, Sayyad noted.
