Kabudarahang leading greenhouse, tropical production
Hamedan – Kabudarahang county - situated in west-central Hamedan province - is fast becoming one of Iran’s top centers for greenhouse farming and tropical fruit cultivation, according to the head of the local Agricultural Organization.
Ali Sarkhosh said the county currently operates three tropical-fruit greenhouses and two cut-flower units, with successful trials of ginger and turmeric underway.
“Lime, kumquat, papaya, pineapple, banana, and mango are also being produced, offering strong export potential.”
Kabudarahang hosts 82 active greenhouse units covering 500,000 square meters and producing about 15,000 tons annually. Another 164 hectares have been allocated for expansion, part of which is already in production.
New greenhouse projects spanning 480,000 square meters are progressing, and with further financial support, the county’s greenhouse capacity could nearly double.
