Iranian envoy calls for stronger regional agri-tech cooperation at CGIAR meeting
Abu Dhabi - Hassan Momeni, Director General of Scientific Communications and International Cooperation at Iran’s Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO), represented Iran and the West Asia–North Africa (WANA) region at the 23rd meeting of the CGIAR System Council.
The summit, held in Abu Dhabi, focused on advancing scientific and technical strategies across the world’s leading agricultural research network.
During the meeting, Dr. Momeni held high-level consultations with the President of CGIAR, senior leadership from ICARDA and CIMMYT, the CGIAR Executive Director, and officials from the World Bank.
Discussions centered on expanding joint research initiatives, strengthening knowledge exchange, and advancing plans to establish a West Asia Resilience Center, with Iran and Turkey envisaged as key partners.
On the sidelines of the event, Momeni visited Biofarm, a pioneering knowledge-based biotechnology company employing advanced technologies - including seawater desalination - to support sustainable organic agriculture in arid and desert environments.
