Tehran – The Iranian  Agricultural Research, Education, and Extension Organization (AREEO) has made a groundbreaking leap, securing a place among the world's top 70 agricultural research institutions.

This remarkable accomplishment is underscored by the inclusion of 16 AREEO researchers in the prestigious list of the world's top 2% scientists.

According to the latest report by Elsevier, a leading publisher, 16 researchers affiliated with AREEO have been recognized among the top 2% of scientists worldwide. 

This represents a significant increase from the previous year when only 10 researchers from the organization made the list.

With a focus on achieving sustainable food security and fostering a knowledge-based agricultural sector, AREEO has implemented a wide range of innovative research programs across its institutes and centers. 

This achievement not only highlights the scientific and research capabilities of the organization's scholars but also directly contributes to increased efficiency and productivity in the agricultural sector.

Moreover, this success can inspire young researchers and scientists to join AREEO and contribute to the sustainable development of the agricultural sector, both nationally and globally. Agricultural higher education can be a turning point for achieving this goal. With this achievement, AREEO has established itself as a leading institution in agricultural research, both domestically and internationally.

The methodology for evaluating researchers is based on the number and proportion of citations received and the identification of the top 2% of researchers. This methodology was first introduced by researchers at Stanford University and is now updated by Elsevier based on Scopus citation data.  

The report, released in September 2024, revealed that 2,503 Iranian researchers were among the top 2% of scientists worldwide. The list includes researchers from various fields, and AREEO's researchers represent a significant portion of this group.
