Iran walnut capital sets sights on global markets with exclusive brand
Tuyserkan – Tuyserkan, nicknamed Iran's city of walnut, is taking a major step toward global recognition with the launch and registration of an exclusive trademark for its world-class walnuts.
Sajad Mohammad Asghari, Director of Tuyserkan’s Agricultural Organization, announced that the newly designed brand will significantly enhance the international standing, credibility, and market value of Tuyserkan walnuts - one of Iran’s most prized horticultural products.
He noted that Tuyserkan produces over 20,000 tons of walnuts annually from 8,000 hectares of orchards, making it a cornerstone of the region’s agricultural economy. Beyond its economic weight, Tuyserkan’s walnut cultivation carries a rich cultural and historical legacy that has shaped the county’s identity for generations.
Asghari added that Tuyserkan is home to the largest walnut nursery in West Asia, producing more than 100,000 grafted saplings each year to support domestic and regional walnut production. The county also hosts several agro-industrial enterprises specializing in value-added products such as activated carbon from walnut shells and advanced walnut-shelling equipment.
With its distinctive quality, global branding efforts, and official registration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Tuyserkan has now earned the prestigious title of “World Walnut City,” reinforcing Iran’s position as a leading producer in the global nut industry.
